The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) defines addiction treatment as a process spanning five levels:
It’s important to understand that the continuum of care is designed for all kinds of patients, from those with mild addictions just starting their journey in recovery to severe and debilitating conditions who require 24-hour care.
Residential, also known as inpatient treatment, provides residents with a complete recovery experience. This level of care is tailored for severe substance abuse disorders. It is the most comprehensive and patients receive around-the-clock care from medical professionals, counselors, therapists, and other specialists who are on the premises 24/7.
Our residential program will provide you with all of the necessary tools and education needed to begin the process of recovery and healing. Residential treatment consists of intensive clinical programming delivered in both group and individual formats.
Riverside Recovery of Tampa’s residential/inpatient program requires living in our state-of-the-art facility for usually 30, 60, or 90 days.
We want our clients to be comfortable and have a small place to call home that offers support and relaxation during the recovery process.
Our Day/Night Programming, also known as Partial Hospitalization, is designed as a step down from our full-time Residential Program. This is the next most intensive level of care. Our Day/Night treatment program allows our clients to explore independence part-time while maintaining an intensive recovery-oriented schedule.
Participants live at Riverside or offsite and attend our structured clinical programming daily.
These programs usually take place on an outpatient basis and include scheduled sessions usually for five to six days each week.
The program is offered Monday through Saturday from 8am to 4pm. Participants live offsite and attend programming as clinically appropriate.
Designed as a step down from the Day/Night program, our Intensive Outpatient Program, also known as IOP, gives patients the flexibility to continue their recovery work while tending to daily responsibilities such as work and family. This level of care is a vital piece of the recovery process and provides the ongoing clinical support patients need as they begin to integrate recovery skills into their everyday lives.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program is the most flexible treatment option if you do not need intensive care and can maintain stability during the recovery process. This program also allows you to continue managing your substance use disorder and daily life. In Intensive Outpatient treatment, you live at home and come to Riverside in the evening for individual and group therapies.
Outpatient is ideal for clients who are seeking long-term support while maintaining accountability in recovery. Clients attend a treatment group weekly where they receive education, positive feedback, and peer support.
The truth is that your loved one is not able to make good decisions for themselves while they are stuck in the grip of addiction. Addiction leaves them no choice, and it will continue to take away their autonomy until professional treatment gives them the right tools to overcome their symptoms. The best way to help is to show them a clear, simple path to recovery that makes it easy for them to get treatment — and in many cases, the best way to accomplish this is to hold an intervention.
Addiction therapy programs are designed specifically to help people with substance use disorders to overcome their condition and live life sober. Before beginning addiction therapy, patients typically stop using drugs and alcohol. While adjusting to sobriety, patients may participate in a variety of activities designed to help them address the root causes of addiction and build better coping skills.
Aftercare is integral to the continuum of care and essential for long-lasting recovery.
Your Riverside Recovery therapist, aftercare coordinator, or other professionals facilitating your care
will coordinate these services.
