Experience seamless care transitions and enjoy our beautiful facility on the banks of the Hillsborough River — we’ll meet you where you are on your journey of recovery.

The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) defines addiction treatment as a process spanning four levels:

  • Level 1: Outpatient Treatment
  • Level 2: Intensive Outpatient // Day/Night Treatment
  • Level 3: Residential / Inpatient Services
  • Level 4: Medically Managed Intensive Inpatient Services

It’s important to understand that the continuum of care is designed for all kinds of patients, from those with mild addictions just starting their journey in recovery to severe and debilitating conditions who require 24-hour care.

Program Care Overview

Medical Detoxification Program

Our state-of-the-art detox program provides patients with medical intervention to prevent the life-threatening effects of withdrawals from substances. Our services are delivered in a peaceful, spa-like setting and our compassionate staff is committed to making the process as safe and comfortable as possible.

Residential (Inpatient) Treatment

Residential, also known as inpatient treatment, provides residents with a complete recovery experience. This level of care is tailored for severe substance abuse disorders. It is the most comprehensive and patients receive around-the-clock care from medical professionals, counselors, therapists, and other specialists who are on the premises 24/7.

Our residential program will provide you with all of the necessary tools and education needed to begin the process of recovery and healing. Residential treatment consists of intensive clinical programming delivered in both group and individual formats.

Riverside Recovery of Tampa’s residential/inpatient program requires living in our state-of-the-art facility for usually 30 days (or longer if clinically necessary).

We want our clients to be comfortable and have a small place to call home that offers support and relaxation during the recovery process.

Residents can expect to participate in various therapeutic activities such as:

  • Holistic exercises like yoga or meditation sessions
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Weekly Family Therapy
  • Daily Recovery Meetings (on-site and off-site),
12-step (AA, NA), SMART Recovery or Celebrate Recovery
  • Specialty Programs

Day/Night Treatment

Our Day/Night Program, also known as Partial Hospitalization, is designed as a step down from our full-time Residential Program. This is the next most intensive level of care. Our Day/Night treatment program allows our clients to explore independence part-time while maintaining an intensive recovery-oriented schedule.

Participants live offsite and attend programming as clinically appropriate.

This program is considered an outpatient level of care and includes sessions scheduled six days per week.

The program is offered Monday through Saturday from 8am to 4pm.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Designed as a step down from the Day/Night program, our Intensive Outpatient Program, also known as IOP,  gives patients the flexibility to continue their recovery work while tending to daily responsibilities such as work and family. This level of care is a vital piece of the recovery process and provides the ongoing clinical support patients need as they begin to integrate recovery skills into their everyday lives.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program is the most flexible treatment option if you do not need intensive care and can maintain stability during the recovery process. This program also allows you to continue managing your substance use disorder and daily life. In Intensive Outpatient treatment, you live at home or sober living and come to Riverside Recovery in the evening for individual and group therapies.

Riverside Recovery’s IOP meets 3 days a week and offers a treatment schedule that will likely include:

  • Individual treatment plans and counseling
  • Group therapy
  • Family sessions
  • Case management

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient is ideal for clients who are seeking long-term support while maintaining accountability in recovery. Clients attend a treatment group weekly where they receive education, positive feedback, and peer support.

Addiction Therapy Program

Addiction therapy programs are designed specifically to help people with substance use disorders to overcome their condition and live life sober. Before beginning addiction therapy, patients typically stop using drugs and alcohol. While adjusting to sobriety, patients may participate in a variety of activities designed to help them address the root causes of addiction and build better-coping skills.

Dual Diagnosis Program

Approximately 45 percent of individuals who struggle with addiction have a secondary mental health diagnosis such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD or a personality disorder. When someone has a dual diagnosis, their co-occurring concerns build upon one another, making symptoms worse. Often, substance abuse habits emerge as a means of coping with the daily difficulties of living with an unmanaged mental health disorder. Only when we help our clients overcome addiction and their mental health concerns can we give them a chance at long-lasting sobriety and wellness.

Family Program

Riverside Recovery recognizes that addiction is a family disease and the effects of substance abuse reach beyond the patient. Research has also shown that engaging family members in the recovery process improves client outcomes through more targeted support and greater understanding. For these reasons, in addition to regular individualized care, each client is also eligible to participate in our Family Program at any level of care.

This program consists of two weekly sessions that include family counseling and group meetings, as well as monthly multi-family workshops. Family sessions take place on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings to account for loved ones’ daily schedules.

This program aims to educate families about the patterns of distrust, identify broken attachments and enhance effective communication.

Continuing Care After Treatment

Continued care is integral to the continuum of care and essential for long-lasting recovery.
Your Riverside Recovery therapist, discharge coordinator, or other professionals facilitating your care
will coordinate these services.

Our continued care services usually include:

  • Counseling
  • Support groups
  • Recovery coaching
  • Employment assistance
  • Legal assistance

As part of your continued care, we will likely make referrals to additional providers to ensure the success of your long-term recovery. During that process, we consider your individual therapeutic needs, the distance between your residence and your provider and ensure the providers are readily available to continue your care. All this, while also meeting your insurance requirements in order to minimize or even eliminate any cost to you
